For example, when operating an excavator, a hydraulic servo control lever is better than an older joystick, and a dozer blade is sometimes not standard equipment. You'll also want a machine with an articulated boom for easier access to buildings and auxiliary pipelines. Zero tail swing is especially important for construction workers who need to work in tight environments.

Bucket and Boom

Excavators aren't always used for digging; construction workers sometimes use them for piling or laying pipelines. Therefore, you need to pay attention to the bucket's condition, ensuring there are no problems with the piling, breaking, and travel mechanisms.

Another important part is the bucket cylinder connection pins and bushings; always check the tightness of these parts. Many problems arise from neglect of maintenance and inspection.

When you start the machine and move the bucket, stick, and boom, you might see the pins or cylinders move, but the stick and bucket don't move. This is because the pins and bushings are loose.

Another key point is to carefully inspect the connection between the boom and the excavator. Excessive wear on the connection below the boom can potentially reduce the value of the entire machine.

Oil Leakage
An oil leak means the entire hydraulic system may be contaminated. Inspecting the hydraulic cylinders and hoses is crucial. Ideally, the chrome-plated surface of the hydraulic cylinders should be free of scratches, dents, or signs of leakage. If hydraulic oil is seeping out, it indicates that dust may have contaminated the hydraulic system.

Similarly, check that the cylinder walls are not damaged or dented. The gap between the cylinder and its walls is very small; even a small amount of debris in the pipes can cause the cylinder to produce a large amount of metal shavings due to wear during operation, which will then remain in the hydraulic system.
